The Reasons Clause 64(2) & 65

CLAUSE 64 (2) of the Regulations

requires that an employer must ensure that all electrical installations, electrical articles and associated

equipment at a place of work are safe to use and are regulary inspected, tested and

maintained to ensure they remain safe for use and are repaired or replaced if unsafe.

CLAUSE 65 of the Regulations

requires that an employer must ensure that a record is made and kept of all inspections and tests made and

maintenance carried out on electrical articles and electrical installations.To support the application of a risk management

approach to electrical safety, you must also comply with the specific legislative requirements

outlined in clause 64 and 65 of the OH & S Regulation 2001.

Item number (number of item being tested),

Item (name of equipment being tested),

Location (where the item is located eg kitchen, bar areas),

Make (the name or the piece of equipment being tested),

Serial number (this is the items security number),

Class (this is the class of the electrical item either being a class 1 or 2) and

Test date (being the date of testing).

Each item will be tagged with a OH&S Specialists tag or a tag with your logs and name.
